WHAT:

Putting reflection into practice
Why reflect on our teaching? And how?

In this session, we will exchange ideas on why
we feel it is important to reflect on our teaching,
what tools we use to do so effectively and
what difference such reflection has made to
our work. We will review some online and
offline tools, resources and methods, including
blogging, Twitter and action research; and we’ll
share some practical tips for getting started, or
expanding on what you might be doing already.

About the workshop presenters

Willy Cardoso
Willy is a teacher at SGI, and over the past 10 years has also worked in teacher training
and materials development, presented at various conferences, and written many
articles, book reviews and blog posts. His motto: forget teaching; focus on learning.

Jemma Gardner
Jemma is a teacher and teacher trainer at SGI. She recently moved from Hamburg, Germany where she worked as a freelance teacher/trainer. Jemma is particularly interested in unplugged approaches to teaching and training and learner autonomy.

Laura Patsko
Laura is a teacher and teacher trainer at SGI. She has taught in the UK, Czech Republic
and briefly in France. She is currently studying for her MA in Applied Linguistics and
ELT. She particularly enjoys sharing practical ideas for teaching and learning language.

Josh Round

About Josh Round

Josh has over 15 years of professional experience in education and has been at SGI since 2002, first as a teacher and teacher trainer, before becoming Director of Studies in 2005. Josh started teaching in 1992, initially as a Drama teacher and also enjoyed a successful career as a theatre and TV actor. He speaks Spanish, French, German and Catalan. Interesting fact: You can see Josh in the Oscar winning film ‘Shakespeare in Love’.
